Life With Two.

22 Feb

It’s no surprise that when you take a second stab at motherhood, the most popular questions are no longer…

“How’s he sleeping?”

“How’s he eating?”

I guess people kind of assume you’ve got the sleeping/eating thing down…BUT…when your offspring doubles-people are DYING to know-

“How is life with two (babies) going? Is it harder?  How’s Henry handling being a big brother? Is he jealous? Does he do well around Marshall?”

I guess the easy answer is…

Life is good.

Life with two is a lot like life with one.

Just busier.

A. Whole. Lot. Busier.

For instance-now I can be nursing ONE baby, while another ONE is rooting for crackers in the pantry.

Which can then lead to me trying to open said bag of graham crackers for one child, while the other one is attached to my boob.

I can be changing one’s diaper to turn around and realize another one has ahem-relieved himself, and now needs changed.

And don’t even get me started on the bathing process.

People-keep it simple.  It should ALWAYS be a two-parent job.

But sometimes I get brave…and I think-I can do ____ (insert any and all tasks) by myself.

And I march into the bathroom with the best of intentions…

And this is what happens…

My plan was just to bathe Marshall this morning.  But a certain little toddler who happens to be OBSESSED with baths didn’t understand why he wasn’t stripping down to take a dip.  I even tried to distract him with this nifty bubble wand that we picked up at Target the other day.  No dice.

And before you start to question what brand of diapers I’m using…that huge wet spot on his PJ bottoms is NOT from his diaper leaking.  It’s what happened when he tried to “help poor water over his baby brother.” FAIL.

So once I got Marsh all squeaky clean…he took up residence in the sink (because when a baby is 3 weeks old, they fit PERFECTLY in the sink…)

And once I got Henry bathed, I was feeling quite proud of myself and channeled my inner “Mama Fierce” for this lovely self portrait…

***The following elements of this photo should be disregarded: Water spots on the mirror, my horrific roots (note to self: make hair appointment,) and my super sexy nursing tank top.***

Does this give you all a small glimpse into Life With Two?

Stay tuned…many many more adventures to come…meanwhile-Happy Tuesday Loyal PERKS followers.
