Holiday PERKS 2010…

7 Jan

You blink, and somehow Thanksgiving turns into the first week in January…

And you are 36 weeks pregnant.

And your baby weighs 25 lbs and is transitioning into a toddler bed.

And you still have the greatest husband in the world…because even though the bigness of your belly has officially made you a living-in-sweatpants-sleep-deprived-zombie…he still makes you laugh.

And you realize that all the other “in-betweens” of life…the cooking, the bills, the constant quest for the clean house, etc…well hopefully you realize those aren’t the moments to worry too much about.

And lord knows as I reflect back on our holiday season…the center of our world was quality time spent with those we love most.  And for that, I feel lucky.

Here’s a picture recap of how we spent the holidays-enjoying our last little bit of life as a family of 3…

Christmas Eve

“Santa’s coming tonight? You gotta be kidding me.”

And a Christmas Eve tradition which started twenty-seven years ago with my Dad reading this story to me…will most definitely continue on…

Fancier editions of this story to come…for now we’ll stick with the toddler board book 🙂

And as quickly as we nestled away our sweet boy so Santa could arrive…morning came.

And with morning, came the magic that is Christmas when you’ve got a kid around…

And boy, it was sweet.  And so was he.

Watching my boys.

And I had one of those out-of-body moments as I sat there and watched the two most important things in my life tinker away at a shiny new train set…thinking…

I want to remember this moment.

Not the train, or the presents, or the tree…

But this moment of me enjoying my two boys.  Just us.

So we opened presents, and dug through stockings…

Henry & Mommy sporting some of our newest accessories.  And yes-we are rockin’ our Christmas PJ’s…

And unlike last year when Henry was barely 4 months old…this year-he actually opened his own presents…

And the good thing about a 16 month-old opening presents…they don’t miss the tissue paper.

So we didn’t use it.

(***Confession-we also used decorative boxes and didn’t wrap MOST of our gifts.  Life’s too short. And I’m too pregnant.***)

Hank sporting his new hat…and a smitten Daddy Perks.

And perhaps the biggest hit of the morning…

Little league, anyone?

And after a morning filled with Santa and cinnamon rolls…we ventured out to enjoy the rest of the day with family.

Aunt Megan & Mimi Pat.

Aunt Corey & Aunt Meg (they’ll LOVE that I posted this picture.)

Grandad & Nana Shubs with Henry…and his cracker.

Uncle Kev sporting his state championship helmet.

Henry enjoying his fake ice cream cone. He received a play kitchen to keep @ Nana’s!

And guess who loved his present from Santa a little more than Henry loved his ice cream…

Daddy Perks with his shiny new red Wii.

And one last shot of our little family on Christmas night…

Such sweet pictures – you look so beautiful, momma. And I can totally relate to savoring moments as a family of three. Sigh! At least you are doing it first so you can give me lots of great tips. Love you.
